Evening Song one piece from a bigger series of performances in collaboration with artist Natalie Doonan.
Through sound and vocals the artists intend to reflect upon language, culture and desire using deconstruction as the main strategy to create meaning in their pieces.

Evening Song is an apropriation of one of Philip Glass's pieces for the opera Satyagrah. Using audience participation and Gloria Anzaldua's approach to the concept of responsibility as part of the conceptual framework, the artists play with the structure of music and text in a singing piece that has no predetermined duration (it lasts for as long as the audience sings). While a repetitive melody is performed by the participants, Doonan and Martinez sing a music scale that accompanies a poem selected from the Dao De Jing.
Special thanks to Nicolas Gonzalez Thomas for his collaboration with the arrangement and to Jackee Guillou for playing the piano.
