Metamorfosis comprises 200 hand-printed dolls in an installation that was exhibited at Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
As part of the Latin American Biennale of Graphic Arts, this piece intends to reflect upon the concept of repetition and pattern as forms of marks that join or differentiate entities and objects.
Marks and patterns may either create a sense of belonging or of being foreign. The arbitrary definition of what is "other" and how do we negotiate these conceptions when being embedded in a system that we are and where we belong.
What are the signs to understand union and separation? How similar or different are they? What is the criteria by which we are grouped or separated?
Within this context the making and crafting of textiles and printmaking become a repetitive act that embodies notions of tradition and female labor.
